Reclaim the Night is a global women’s protest against men’s sexual violence on the last Friday in October each year

    Thursday 29 October 2009 Safe for women, safe for everyone. Inviting women of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and religion to come together and march peacefully for the right to live free from fear of violence and discrimination.     Friday October 30 2009 Reclaim the night is an annual march to help raise awareness and stop violence against women.  Women are gathering for pick-up between 4.30 & 5.30pm (to be confirmed) Free transport by coach from locations across Mt Druitt and Blacktown. Enjoy a picnic supper in Victoria Park. Depart from the city at approximately 10.00pm. Gold coin donation welcome. Free refreshments and showbags provided.     Friday 30 October 2009 Women in the Geelong region are invited to become part of a community choir performance ‘Reclaim our voice’ on the evening of Friday 30th October – the traditional night of Reclaim the Night. Rehearsals In the lead up to the ‘Reclaim our Voice’ event, several community choir rehearsals and lantern making workshops will occur. These will be on Sunday afternoons in Oct, i.e. 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th from 2pm to 4.30pm at the supper room of Geelong West Town Hall, Pakington St., Geelong West. Cost There is a registration cost for choir participants - $25/$15(cons) – this will include all rehearsals and a performance T shirt. Sunday 4th will include registration and sizing of T shirts.     Friday 30th October. Reclaim the night Gather at the Gladstone City Plaza (opposite the Council Chambers) at 6pm, for a candlelight march commencing at 6.30. Candles, banners and aqua ribbons will be given out while stocks last. We march down Goondoon Street to James Cook Park at the waterfront for speeches, entertainment and a sausage sizzle.     Fri 30 October 2009 Reclaim the Night Celebrations 10am to 4pm Please join us and local artist Tania Summerell who will create a beautiful ground mandala at the front of Tweed Shire Women's Service. Mandalas are powerful places of communicative visual symbols, providing a site of integration for community members to gather, reflect and learn.  The Reclaim the Night mandala will comprise of ancient cultural symbols that honour and offer protection and empowerment for women and children. All women and children are encouraged to visit Tanias mandala and bring a flower to place at the circumference in honour of all women and children worldwide who have been the victims of abuse.     Friday 30th October 2009 Reclaim the Night march and rally in the Perth CBD.  Women and children come together in a night of solidarity. Please gather at the Wellington Street exit of Perth train station at 6:30pm. The march will start at 7pm sharp. The march will finish at Stirling Gardens where there will be a rally with speakers, performers and entertainers. The march and rally are for women and children only. This policy was not made with intention of excluding men, but rather to ensure the inclusion of ALL women. The Night is an annual women's march held on the last Friday in October. March starts at Mothers Memorial Gardens opposite Queens Park on Margaret Street at 5pm. March begins at 530pm.
